ICT to deliver verdict in Sheikh Hasina’s case at 11 AM

The International Crimes Tribunal-1 is set to announce its verdict on Monday at 11 AM in a high-profile case against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and two others, accused of committing crimes against humanity during the mass uprising of July-August last year.

According to the tribunal’s registrar, the court will convene Monday morning to deliver the ruling.

Security has been tightened around the tribunal, with the Supreme Court requesting army deployment to ensure safety during the proceedings.

The other two accused in the case are former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and former Inspector General of Police (IGP) and prosecution witness Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun.

The verdict will be handed down by a three-member tribunal panel led by Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Majumder at International Crimes Tribunal-1.

Prosecutors have brought five charges against the three accused, seeking the death penalty for Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.

Defense lawyers for all three have pleaded for acquittal, arguing their clients are innocent.

Bangladesh Television (BTV) will broadcast the verdict live, allowing nationwide viewing of the historic ruling.
