He made the remarks on Monday in his immediate reaction after the International Crimes Tribunal-1 sentenced Sheikh Hasina to death in a case involving crimes against humanity committed during the July mass uprising.
Salahuddin said, “Justice has been served through the International Crimes Tribunal. This verdict is a milestone. Although the punishment is not enough considering the crimes, it will set an example so that no government or individual can become fascist in the future.”
He added, “This verdict proves that no matter how powerful fascism becomes, or how strongly it holds on to power, one day it will have to stand in the dock.”
Earlier in the day, the three-member judicial panel of the International Crimes Tribunal-1, led by Chairman Justice Golam Mortuza Mojumder, sentenced Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to death.
