Former Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) mayor Selina Hayat Ivy has been shown arrested in five additional cases after a court approved police petitions on Tuesday.

The cases include four murder charges filed with Fatullah Police Station over the killings that occurred during anti-discrimination student movement and one case with Sadar Police Station for allegedly obstructing police work.

A hearing on the obstruction case was held earlier in the day at court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Selina Khatun.

Later, Senior Judicial Magistrate Maimuna Akter Moni conducted hearings for the four murder cases.
Ivy’s counsel, Advocate Awlad Hossain, argued that Ivy was not named in any of the five cases when they were originally filed.
He alleged that new show-arrest orders were being used to delay her release on bail.
The defence intends to challenge the orders in the high court.
Ivy was arrested from her residence on May 9. Although High Court granted her bail in five cases on November 9, the Appellate Division subsequently stayed the bail orders.
