Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam has said that the level playing field required to hold the 13th national election is still not in sight.
He made the comment on Sunday at a press briefing organised at the Shaheed Abu Sayed Convention Centre.
‘NCP is moving forward with its dreams and promises. What we need most to participate in this election is the trust and cooperation of the countrymen. The support that we have always received – the support of the people – has enabled the NCP to come this far.”
Nahid said, ”There are many false reports being spread about NCP in newspapers. An attempt is being made to take the NCP to one side. They have already cleared that they are trying to field candidates for 300 seats on their own.
”We have already said that culturally, the electoral process in Bangladesh includes muscle power, influencing the administration and use of money. We have always seen this. Earlier, during the reign of the fascists, people could not even go to cast their votes.”
