Fire erupts at DU’s Bijoy 71 hall

A fire broke out at Bijoy 71 Hall of Dhaka University (DU) on Monday evening, however, however, Fire Service and Civil Defence personnel doused the blaze in ten minutes without any causalities reported.
Earlier in the evening, students of the dormitory reported a loud explosion in a shop nearby at around 6:13 PM and rushed out of the building as smoke spread through the area.
Affirming the incident, Bijoy Ekattor Hall provost Dr SM Ali Reza told that the fire may have originate from a gas cylinder explosion in one of the shops nearby.

Immediately after being informed about the blaze four fire fighter units rushed there and doused the blaze around 6.20 PM, claimed fire service authority.
DU Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed confirmed that the blaze has been doused, adding that no casualties were reported in this incident.
Moreover, students express their concern over lack of adequate fire extinguishing systems in residential halls.
