The Election Commission (EC) has suspended national identity card (NID) services, including voter correction and migration, to prepare and print the electoral rolls ahead of the upcoming national election, expected in early February 2026.
“The NID services remain suspended from 4:00 PM on Monday until further notice,” Md Saiful Islam, Director (Operations) of the National Identity Registration Wing, told the media.
The EC published the final electoral rolls on November 18, showing a total of nearly 127.7 million registered voters for the 13th parliamentary election. The rolls include 64,814,907 male voters, 62,879,042 female voters, and 1,234 third-gender voters. Newly eligible voters who turned 18 by October 31, 2025, are also included.
The EC plans to hold the national election and a referendum on the reform charter simultaneously on a single day in early February 2026. This marks the third update of the voter list in 2025, following revisions on March 2 and August 31.
For comparison, the 12th parliamentary election held on January 7, 2024, recorded around 119.69 million voters nationwide.
