31 police officials promoted to DIG

The Ministry of Home Affairs has promoted 31 police officers to the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG), as part of a major administrative move aimed at strengthening leadership within the national law enforcement structure.

An official notification, issued on Wednesday by the Public Security Division, confirmed the promotions, which will take effect from the respective dates of joining for each officer.

Md Abu Sufiyan has been promoted to DIG and posted at Dhaka Police Headquarters, while Zillur Rahman has been appointed as the new Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner.

The appointments come amid ongoing efforts to reinforce command structures across metropolitan police units and ensure operational efficiency ahead of the upcoming general elections.
