The BNP has requested all media outlets to refrain from circulating unverified or misleading information regarding the health condition of party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

The party clarified that only Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, a member of the BNP National Standing Committee, is authorized to brief the press about her medical updates.

The directive was issued through a post on the verified Facebook page of BNP Media Cell around 2:15 PM on Monday (December 1).

The post stated, “For public awareness, it is hereby informed that any information regarding the treatment of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will be provided exclusively by Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain. Everyone is specially requested to refrain from presenting unsolicited, unverified, or misleading information. Please pray for her recovery.”

Khaleda Zia has been hospitalized for a week with multiple critical health complications, including severe liver conditions, reduced kidney function, respiratory distress, and other associated problems. She was admitted to Evercare Hospital on the night of 23 November in a “gravely serious” state, and initial tests revealed lung infections.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday described her condition as “extremely critical,” later adding on Saturday that her health was too fragile for travel abroad for advanced medical treatment.
