Anisul, Qamrul, Solaiman lands in Jail after remand

A Dhaka court on Wednesday ordered former minister Anisul Huq, Qamrul Islam, and former lawmaker Solaiman Salim to be sent to jail following their remand in the Monir murder case linked to last year’s July uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Alam passed ordered after police presented them before the court seeking their detention.

Earlier, Solaiman Salim served a four-day remand, while Anisul Huq and Qamrul Islam each served a five-day remand in the case.

On 2 December, former lawmaker Haji Mohammad Salim was also sent to jail after the completion of his remand in this case.

According to the case statement, on 5 August 2024, Monir joined the July uprising movement at Chankharpul area in Shahbagh, where he was allegedly shot to death. Monir’s wife Rozina Akhter filed a murder case with Shahbagh Police Station in this regard on 14 March 2025.
