UK medical team reaches Evercare to assist Khaleda’s treatment

A four-member medical team from UK reached Evercare Hospital on Wednesday morning to assist in the treatment of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Around 10:35AM, Dr Richard Beale with his team entered the Evercare’s Coronary Care Unit (CCU) on the fourth floor where Khaleda has been receiving treatment.
The hospital source said that said the visiting physicians reviewed Khaleda Zia’s latest medical reports and consulted the local medical board.
The UK team came to Bangladesh to give their recommendation on the next steps in her treatment, the hospital source added.
Meanwhile, the hospital officials said a specialist medical team from China is expected to arrive this evening.
The BNP chief has been undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital since November 23, where tests revealed a lung infection. The party described her condition as critical and she has been under intensive care in the Critical Care Unit since November 27. Her treatment is being supervised by a medical board led by Prof Shahabuddin Talukder.
