Legal notice demands IGP Baharul’s swift removal for alleged role in BDR carnage

Supreme Court’s three lawyers have sent legal notice to the government demanding the removal of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam within 24 hours as he has been accused over the 2009 BDR carnage.

Chief Secretary at the Chief Adviser’s Office, Home Affairs Ministry’s Senior Secretary, Public Administration Ministry’s Senior Secretary, and Law Ministry’s Secretary have been addressed in the legal notice.

On Sunday, the National Independent Inquiry Commission on the BDR carnage submitted its report to Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus. In the report, the commission has accused a number of officials from the then Awami League government, the ruling party’s members and foreign forces for masterminding the killing of senior army officials at Pilkhana on 25-26 February 2009.
