Zubaida Rahman, wife of BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman, revisited BNP Chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka on Saturday.
She was seen entering the hospital premises around 3:20pm.
Zubaida arrived in Dhaka on Friday from London and went directly to Evercare Hospital around noon to see her ailing mother-in-law.
She stayed there for more than two and a half hours before leaving for her paternal residence in Dhanmondi.
Later at night, she returned to the hospital.
Prior to her arrival in Bangladesh, she had been virtually coordinating with the medical team overseeing Khaleda Zia’s treatment.
Khaleda Zia has been undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital for 14 days.
She was admitted on the night of 23 November after experiencing severe breathing difficulties.
A medical board led by Professor Shahabuddin Talukder—comprising both local and foreign specialists—has been supervising her treatment.
Meanwhile, plans to take Khaleda Zia abroad for advanced treatment have once again been postponed.
The BNP had earlier mentioned 7 December as the new tentative date for her transfer, but officials indicated last night that this date may also be delayed.
According to a report, BNP Chairperson’s adviser Enamul Haque Chowdhury said on Saturday that Qatar’s royal air ambulance will depart for Dhaka as soon as the medical board gives final clearance.
He has been maintaining communication with the Qatari authorities on behalf of the party.
