A Dhaka court has deferred the deadline for submitting the investigation report against 11 accused, including actor Salman Shah’s former wife Samira Haque and film villain Don, in the murder case filed over the actor’s death.
On Sunday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana set January 13 as the new date after the investigating officer Ramna Model Police Station Inspector Atikul Islam Khandakar failed to place the report before the court.
The other accused in the case are: Samira Haque’s mother Latifa Haque Lusy, businessman Aziz Mohammad Bhai, Don, David, Javed, Farooq, Ruby, A. Sattar, Saju, and Rezvi Ahmed alias Farhad.
Earlier, on 20 October, a Dhaka court ordered that the unnatural death case filed over Salman Shah’s death be treated as a murder case. Following the directive, the actor’s mother, Neela Chowdhury, through her brother Mohammad Alamgir Kumkum, filed a murder case later that night.
Salman Shah was found dead at his residence in Eskaton on 6 September 1996. His father, Komor Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, initially filed an unnatural death case, which was later sought to be converted into a murder case in July 1997. The court then directed the CID to investigate.
