A Dhaka court on Tuesday ordered the seizure of land worth Tk3.9 crore and two vehicles worth Tk1.61 crore belonging to former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan.

Judge Mohammad Kamrul Islam Khan of the Dhaka Special Judge Court-3 passed the order after hearing a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

According to the petition, the seized assets include 10 kathas of land in Narayanganj and a total of 167.23 decimals of land in Dohar and Ashulia.

The ACC stated in its plea that a case is ongoing against Asaduzzaman Khan for acquiring assets worth Tk16.41 crore that are inconsistent with his known sources of income and for conducting suspicious transactions amounting to Tk55.92 crore through eight bank accounts.

During the investigation, it was found that the accused had been attempting to sell, transfer or otherwise dispose of the illegally acquired assets. If the properties are not attached, it may cause irreparable loss to the state, the ACC said.
