Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its seven allies are set to start formal seat-sharing discussions on Tuesday ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

According to multiple sources within the coalition, the talks will primarily focus on finalising potential candidate lists, determining the seat-distribution framework, and assessing grassroots-level realities.

Sources say that in the first round, top leaders of the alliance will present initial proposals based on each party’s strongholds, previous election results, and recent popularity surveys. A technical committee will then conduct a detailed analysis and prepare final recommendations.

The liaison committee of the eight-party alliance on Monday night decided to move forward with this plan during a meeting held at the central office of Khelafat Majlis in Paltan. The meeting was presided over by Khelafat Majlis Secretary General Dr Ahmed Abdul Kader.

The development was confirmed by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General and coordinator of the eight-party liaison committee Dr Hamidur Rahman Azad, who was present at the meeting.
