Two student representatives in the interim government, Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan and Mahfuz Alam, have officially resigned from their advisory positions, a source at the Chief Adviser’s office confirmed on Wednesday evening.
Asif Mahmud and Mahfuz Alam had been serving as advisers in the interim government, representing the student leaders who played a key role in the July mass uprising.
Asif Mahmud oversaw Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, as well as Ministry of Youth and Sports, while Mahfuz Alam served as the adviser for Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
The Chief Adviser’s Office is set to convene a press briefing at State Guesthouse Jamuna around 6:15 PM potentially to confirm the resignations, BBC Bangla reported citing sources at the office.
