The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday shared the identities of the six Bangladeshi peacekeepers and the eight others injured who were killed in a drone attack on a United Nations peacekeeping base in Sudan on Saturday.
According to an ISPR press release, the attack was carried out by a separatist armed group between 3:40PM and 3:50PM local time, while the peacekeepers were on duty at the UN base.
The dead peacekeepers were as Corporal Md Masud Rana, ASC (Natore) Sainik Md Mominul Islam, Bir (Kurigram) Sainik Shamim Reza, Bir (Rajbari) Sainik Shanta Mondal, Bir (Kurigram) Mess Waiter Mohammad Jahangir Alam (Kishoreganj) Laundry employee Md Sabuj Mia (Gaibandha).
And the injured are Lt Col Khondaker Khalequzzaman (from Kushtia), Sgt Md Mostakim Hossain (from Dinajpur), Corporal Afroza Parvin Iti (from Dhaka), Lance Corporal Mohibul Islam (from Barguna); Soldier Md Mezbaul Kabir (from Kurigram), Mosammat Umme Hani Akhter (from Rangpur), Chumki Akhter (from Manikganj) and Md Manazir Ahsan (from Noakhali).
