July Oikya has announced a program titled “March to Indian High Commission”, demanding the repatriation of fugitive former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and other accused involved in crimes against humanity during the July uprising.
The program is scheduled to begin at 3 PM on December 17 from Rampura Bridge in Dhaka.
The initiative also protests alleged ongoing conspiracies by Indian-backed political parties, media groups and government officials in the country.
In a press release issued on Monday, the platform stated that the march will symbolically uphold the spirit of July mass uprising and call for justice against those responsible for past atrocities.
According to the release, participants will include patriotic ex-military officers, leaders from DUCSU, JUCSU and representatives from universities, colleges, madrasas, schools and various other organizations.
July Oikya organizers will lead the march.
The statement accused India and its proxies of sheltering those responsible for mass killings during the July uprising and claimed that recent attacks, such as the shooting of Sharif Osman Hadi, reflect continued interference.
“We will not accept any form of domination in Bangladesh 2.0,” the release said.
July Oikya also issued an ultimatum to the Indian government and the interim government in Bangladesh, warning that failure to repatriate the accused would make Delhi and specific government departments responsible for subsequent consequences.
The platform urged students and citizens of all professions, regardless of political affiliation, to join the march and defend country’s sovereignty.
