The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced plans to accord a reception to its acting chairman Tarique Rahman at the 300 Feet area of the capital upon his return to Bangladesh on 25 December.

According to BNP leaders, the flight carrying Tarique is scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 11:45am on that day.

Following his arrival, the party will organise a mass gathering at the 300 Feet area to welcome him.

In preparation for Tarique’s return, senior BNP leaders held a meeting on Thursday with top officials of the Civil Aviation Authority to discuss overall airport arrangements and management.

The BNP delegation included Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, BNP Media Cell Convener Maudud Ala Pavel, and Chief Security Officer Brigadier General (retd) Dr Shamsul Islam.

During the meeting, the leaders also inspected the security arrangements at the airport.

BNP leaders said the party is coordinating with the authorities to ensure a smooth and secure reception programme on the day of Tarique’s arrival.
