The Bangladesh High Commission (HC) in New Delhi has said India is closely monitoring the situation in Bangladesh but has assured that it will not interfere in the country’s internal political processes, according to a report by Al Jazeera.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the High Commission said senior officials of both countries are aware that Bangladesh’s internal situation remains fluid and evolving, requiring careful and objective analysis.

The statement noted that in the aftermath of mass movements in any country, unintended and tragic situations often arise, adding that the killing of martyr Sharif Osman Hadi reflects that reality.

The High Commission emphasized that while India remains attentive to developments in Bangladesh, it does not intervene in the political processes of its neighboring country.

Meanwhile, some protesters have alleged that India is providing shelter to members of what they described as the former “fascist” Awami League government, including convicted former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

Sharif Osman Hadi was shot during an election campaign as a prospective candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency and later died from his injuries.

He was critically wounded after a bullet pierced his head and was initially taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital before being shifted to the intensive care unit of Evercare Hospital. Three days later, he was flown to Singapore for advanced treatment, but ultimately did not survive.
