The body of Inqilab Moncho leader Sharif Osman Hadi is being transported to Dhaka University campus for burial following his funeral prayers.
Supporters and university authorities have made arrangements to receive the body and conduct the burial near the Central Mosque of the campus.
Hadi’s elder brother, Abu Bakar Siddique, said it was shameful that the perpetrators had not been arrested even seven to eight days after the killing, warning that if the attackers manage to escape—especially across the border—it would be a matter of national disgrace.
Before leading the janaza prayers, Abu Bakar Siddique, elder brother of Osman Hadi, delivered an emotional address, telling the gathered crowd: “You are the hundreds of thousands — today, all of you are Hadi.”
His voice choked with grief, he said the family was struggling to cope with the loss, especially Hadi’s infant child, who is only eight months old.
Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus said that the ideals left behind by Osman Hadi would continue to guide the nation, declaring, “Our heads will never bow—this is what Hadi gave us.”
Speaking before Hadi’s janaza on Saturday, Yunus said Hadi was not just a political figure but someone who left behind a clear process—how elections should be conducted and how political campaigns can be run without causing suffering to people.
“He showed us that politics must be rooted in discipline, responsibility, and respect for citizens,” Yunus said, adding that Hadi’s approach to campaigning and election management would be adopted as a future standard.
“We place you in Allah’s care today,” the chief adviser said. “We promise to remember your words and continue on the path of national progress you envisioned.”
He stressed that the model Hadi introduced—ethical politics without intimidation or hardship—would remain a guiding principle going forward.
Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of Inqilab Mancha, has called on everyone to refrain from violence.
He said all supporters should gather at the University of Dhaka after the namaz-e-janaza, where the next course of action will be announced.
Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of Inqilab Moncho, has said that Osman Hadi’s killing was not carried out by a lone individual but by an entire network.
He said all those involved — including the planners, facilitators and the killer — must be brought to justice.
He added that the home affairs adviser and his special assistant Khoda Bux must disclose within the next 24 hours what actions have been taken over the killing, failing which they should step down.
Religious Affairs Adviser Professor A F M Khalid Hossain on Saturday called for the fulfilment of the dream envisioned by Osman Hadi of an anti-hegemonic, justice-based society.
He made the remarks while reading out Osman Hadi’s biography ahead of the janaza.
The Religious Adviser has urged people to realise Hadi’s dream of building a discrimination-free society.
The burial will take place following his janaza, in line with the wishes of his family.
Supporters and well-wishers are expected to pay their final respects at the site.

The namaz-e-janaza of Inqilab Moncho convener Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi will be held at 2:00pm today at the South Plaza of the National Parliament, with his elder brother Abu Bakar Siddique leading the prayers.
The information was confirmed by Dr Md Abdul Ahad, a member of Hadi’s medical board and a neurosurgeon at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
He said the janaza prayers would be conducted by Abu Bakar Siddique, who is the principal of Baghia Al Amin Kamil Madrasa in Barishal and the khatib of the historic Guthia Jame Mosque.
Following the janaza, Hadi will be laid to rest beside the grave of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam at Dhaka University.
