Inqilab Moncho on Saturday issued a 24-hour ultimatum demanding the resignation of Home Affairs Adviser, centering its protest on the killing of the organisation’s spokesperson, Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi.
The announcement was made in the afternoon at Shahbagh, where activists and supporters gathered following Hadi’s burial.
Alongside the ultimatum, the platform demanded a fair investigation into the killing and the immediate arrest of those responsible, warning of tougher programmes involving students and the public if their demands are not met.

Speakers at the rally said the death of Sharif Osman Hadi was not an isolated incident but a clear reflection of the grave failure of law and order in the country.

They gave the Home Affairs Adviser, Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, 24 hours to step down, announcing that failure to do so within the stipulated time would lead to more stringent protests with mass participation.

Earlier in the afternoon, at around 3:30 PM, Sharif Osman Hadi was laid to rest beside the mausoleum of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam near Dhaka University Central Mosque.

Present at the burial were Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) Chief Organiser (Southern Region) Hasnat Abdullah, Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan, Amar Desh editor Mahmudur Rahman, leaders from DUCSU, as well as Hadi’s family members and relatives.

Hadi’s namaz-e-janaza was held at 2:30 PM at South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, where his elder brother, Abu Bakar Siddique, led the janaza in presence of a massive gathering of mourners.
