Police have recovered the bodies of two minor siblings from a residence at Hatirjheel area in the capital.
The deceased are Afrida Chowdhury, 10, a student of class three at Viqarunnisa Noon School and College and her one-year-old brother Ilham Chowdhury. Police suspect that the sibling may have died due to food poisoning.
Hatirjheel Police Station SI Md Sumon Miah said getting information, a team recovered the bodies from a freezing ambulance parked at the garage of SHS Tower No 91 at Wireless Mor on Saturday night.
The bodies were sent to the Dhaka Medical College (DMC) morgue for autopsy.”No injury marks were found on the bodies,” he added.
The SI said, the children’s father Mosleh Uddin Chowdhury is a general manager at a garment factory, while their mother Saida Jakawat Ara is a housewife.
The parents and their two children had dinner on Friday evening and went to sleep. On Saturday morning, Afrida fell ill and was taken to a local hospital at Razarbagh, where doctors declared her dead.
When the family came to home with the body, Ilham started vomiting. He was then taken to a hospital at Moghbazar where he died while undergoing treatment in the afternoon.The parents ate the same food and ill, but they later received treatment and recovered.
