Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam has said that the police are fully prepared to ensure a free, fair, orderly, and festive environment for the upcoming election.

He also mentioned that the police would take strict administrative measures to maintain law and order.

The IGP made the remarks on Tuesday morning at the Election Commission building in Agargaon, Dhaka, during a meeting on election management with returning officers and field administration officials in connection with the referendum and the 13th National Parliamentary Election, 2026.

The IGP said that in the post-July period, the police had to face various adverse situations in maintaining law and order due to practical realities.

“However, we have overcome that situation. Having reached this stage ahead of the election, I firmly believe that our force has now achieved sufficient capability to maintain law and order,” he added.
