The Sharsa upazila unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Tuesday afternoon brought out a massive joy rally welcoming the homecoming of the party’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

Thousands of BNP leaders and activists from different unions and villages of the upazila joined the rally, carrying placards and festoons bearing images of Tarique Rahman. The Sharsa bazaar area echoed with slogans such as “Tarique Rahman is coming, Bangladesh is smiling.”

The rally started from the Sharsa upazila BNP office, paraded through the main roads of the bazaar, and concluded at the same venue. A brief rally was held there afterward.

Addressing the gathering, Sharsa upazila BNP adviser Khairuzzaman Madhu, upazila BNP president Abul Hasan Jahir, general secretary Alhaj Nuruzzaman Liton, senior joint general secretary Mostafa Kamal Mintu, among others, spoke on the occasion.

Thousands of leaders and activists of BNP and its associate and affiliated organisations from different unions were also present.

The speakers said that to welcome their beloved leader Tarique Rahman on December 25, several thousand leaders and activists from Sharsa will depart for Dhaka on Wednesday.
