Mobile network operators in Bangladesh deployed portable network towers and expanded capacity to ensure uninterrupted connectivity during the reception marking the return of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman after around 17 years.

The program took place at the “July 36 Expressway” area of Kuril Bishwa Road, drawing a large gathering both on the ground and across digital platforms.

Special arrangements were made along the 300 Feet–Purbachal Road corridor, targeting connectivity support for up to five million users.

With large political events increasingly amplified through social media, operators anticipated heavy pressure on mobile networks, particularly on data bandwidth and voice traffic. All three private mobile operators used artificial intelligence (AI)-based network management systems to optimize transmission and balance call and data loads in real time.

Antenna coverage, tower capacity, and radio frequency resources were expanded in and around the 300 Feet area.

Robi Axiata Chief Corporate Officer Shahed Alam said the operator deployed five Cellular on Wheels (COW) units to maintain service continuity. The operator also installed mobile towers and strengthened the network by sharing capacity with nearby sites. Regular speed tests were conducted to monitor performance, he added.

Banglalink Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Taimur Rahman said three COW units were installed. He said technical preparations to handle additional network load were completed early in the morning, covering the airport corridor, Banani, Gulshan, Pragati Sarani, and surrounding areas.

Grameenphone did not disclose the number of portable towers deployed or specific technical measures. However, the operator said it enhanced the capacity of existing network infrastructure in the relevant areas, taking into account the expected crowd size. Additional contingency measures were also put in place to ensure uninterrupted services for customers, the operator said in a statement.

Information regarding preparations by state-owned operator Teletalk could not be obtained until the filing of this report.

Due to overnight network upgrades and advance technical measures, no major complaints related to call quality or video streaming were reported.
