Ritu Porna Chakma has emerged as the most expensive signing in this season’s Women’s Football League, cementing her status as Bangladesh’s brightest star in women’s football. Rajshahi Stars FC secured the national forward in a record-breaking deal reportedly worth TK6 Lakh, making her the most valuable player of the tournament.

The 21-year-old has dazzled on the international stage, most memorably scoring a stunning goal against Nepal in last year’s SAFF final and netting a brace against Myanmar in this year’s Asian Cup qualifiers. Her electrifying performances have left fans in awe and made her the most sought-after player this season.

Rajshahi Stars have also strengthened their squad with national team captain Afeida Khandaker, Sheuli Azim, Sapna Rani, Munki Akter, and Shaheda Akter Ripa. The Women’s Football League kicks off on 29 December, with Bangladesh Police FC facing Bangladesh Army SC at 3:30 pm, followed by BKSP FC against last season’s champions Nasrin Sports Academy at 5:45 pm.

Other clubs are finalising preparations. Bangladesh Police FC will feature national stars Maria Manda, Shamsunnahar Jr, and Sagarika, while Farashganj Sporting Club is reportedly close to signing Monika Chakma.

The single-leg league will run until 30 January, featuring 11 teams. With marquee players like Ritu Porna leading the charge, fans can expect a high-octane season full of skill, speed, and star power.
