Leaders and activists of Inquilab Mancha on Sunday blocked the capital’s Shahbagh intersection for the third consecutive day, demanding the arrest and speedy trial of those involved in the murder of the platform’s convener, Sharif Osman Hadi.

As part of a pre-announced program, protesters began gathering under the July Memorial Monument at Shahbagh around 2pm. About half an hour later, they blocked all roads at the intersection, triggering severe traffic congestion in the surrounding areas.

During the blockade, the protesters chanted various slogans reiterating their demands.

Meanwhile, Inquilab Manch also launched similar blockade programs in all eight divisions of the country from 2pm on Sunday.

The nationwide program was announced late Saturday night by Inquilab Manch Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber from Shahbagh. Although he initially said the blockade would begin at 11am on Sunday, the organisation later revised the schedule, setting the start time at 2pm.
