BNP Candidate Nuruzzaman Liton Submits Nomination Papers for Jashore-1

BNP-nominated candidate Nuruzzaman Liton, general secretary of Sharsha Upazila BNP, submitted his nomination papers for the Jashore-1 (Sharsha) constituency in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

He submitted the nomination on Monday (December 29) at around 2:30pm at the office of Sharsha Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Assistant Returning Officer Fazle Wahid.

Speaking to journalists after submitting the papers, Nuruzzaman Liton said the process of forming a government through people’s votes had finally begun after 17 years, fulfilling the long-cherished hopes and aspirations of the people of Bangladesh.

“Alhamdulillah, our leader Tarique Rahman is now present in the country. People are feeling joyful. For a long time, the people of Bangladesh were without a guardian. With his return, they have found one,” he said.

“I have submitted my nomination today. I hope this will pave the way for the restoration of democracy and bring peace back to the people of Bangladesh,” he added, expressing optimism that the country is now moving towards a free, fair, and acceptable election.

Several BNP leaders were present at the time, including Sharsha Upazila BNP senior joint general secretary Advocate Mostafa Kamal Mintu, Benapole Municipal BNP vice-president Atikuzzaman Soni, Sharsha Upazila BNP organising secretary Ashraful Alam Babu, Kaiba Union BNP president Rabiul Islam, and Ulashi Union BNP president Abdul Hamid.

Others present included Benapole Municipal BNP organising secretary Akteruzzaman, Sharsha Upazila Krishak Dal president Amirul Islam, Upazila Jubo Dal president Mostafizzuha Selim, and Upazila Chhatra Dal president Shariful Islam Chayan, along with other party leaders and activists.

Meanwhile, several other candidates have also submitted nomination papers from the Jashore-1 (Sharsha) constituency. They include Maulana Azizur Rahman of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami; BNP rebel candidate Khairuzzaman Madhu, adviser to Sharsha Upazila BNP; Sharsha Upazila BNP president Abul Hasan Jahir; former BNP central office secretary Mofikul Hasan Tripti; Boktiar Rahman of Islami Andolon Bangladesh; independent candidates Osman Gani and Shahjahan Ali Goldar; Jatiya Party (GM Quader) candidate Jahangir Alam Chanchal; Nazim Uddin of Bangladesh Khilafat Majlish; and Abdul Mannan Minnu of the Janatar Dal.

The Jashore-1 constituency comprises Sharsha Upazila alone and has a total of 311,633 registered voters. Nuruzzaman Liton has been nominated as the BNP’s final candidate for the seat.
