BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman on Monday urged party leaders and activists to contribute, within their own capacities, to rebuilding the country through small but meaningful actions. He also called for collective responsibility and civic discipline.
Addressing supporters after visiting BNP central office at Nayapaltan for the first time in 17 years, Tarique Rahman said everyone should do whatever they can to help rebuild the nation.

“If there is a piece of paper or garbage lying on the street, let us remove it. Through such small efforts, let us rebuild the country,” he told party activists.

Tarique Rahman arrived at the BNP central office around 4:00pm on Monday (December 29), making his way through a large crowd of supporters. He went straight to the second floor to greet leaders and activists by waving and offering salutations before briefly addressing them.

He said there was no formal party programme scheduled for the day and that he would speak in detail when an official programme is held. “I will just say this much—let us all try to rebuild the country according to our respective abilities. I wish everyone well,” he added.

Earlier, at around 3:00pm, Tarique Rahman left his Gulshan Avenue residence for the party headquarters. Upon his arrival, he was welcomed with flowers by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and party Treasurer M Rashiduzzaman Millat.

Also present were BNP Chairperson’s adviser and freedom fighter Abdus Salam, Joint Secretary General Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel, senior leaders of affiliated and associate bodies, and officials and staff of the central office.

The BNP central office was decorated festively to mark the occasion, while thousands of party leaders and activists began gathering in the Nayapaltan area from the morning, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and excitement.

Security was tightened around the headquarters, with the Chief Security Force cordoning off the premises and law enforcement agencies maintaining strict surveillance across the Nayapaltan area. RAB’s dog squad was deployed to conduct security sweeps in and around the central office.

After returning to the country following a long period abroad, Tarique Rahman on Sunday (December 28) resumed official duties for the first time at the BNP chairperson’s political office in Gulshan.
