Debutants BKSP announced their arrival in the Women’s Football League with a sensational 8–0 thrashing of reigning champions Nasrin Academy at the Birshreshtha Shaheed Sipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur on Monday evening.
Fielding a youthful side primarily composed of U-17 and U-19 players, BKSP produced a dazzling display, scoring three goals in the first half and adding five more after the break to register a commanding win.
The match started with a near-miss in the 11th minute when Ayonto Bala broke through Nasrin’s defence but her shot was blocked by a defender for a corner. From the resulting set-piece, Sumi Rani cleared off the line, keeping Nasrin in the game temporarily.
BKSP soon seized control, applying relentless pressure. In the 22nd minute, Airin Khatun found the net from a crowded box following a corner, opening the scoring. Four minutes later, Almina doubled the lead, converting a goalkeeper error with a low, precise strike. In the 33rd minute, Protima Munda set up Ayonto Bala, who calmly slotted home to make it 3–0, effectively putting the game beyond Nasrin Academy’s reach.
Despite the biting cold slowing the tempo in the second half, BKSP’s attacking dominance continued. In the 73rd minute, Protima Munda added her second, curling a shot past the far post. Reya followed with a long-range strike, and in the 83rd minute, Fatema Akter scored after evading two defenders. Even though the goalkeeper denied two of Fatema’s subsequent attempts, her third found the net. In added time, Umma Kulsum completed the scoring, ensuring an emphatic 8–0 victory.
BKSP’s commanding performance in their league debut not only humbled the defending champions but also set a high benchmark for the season ahead, signalling that they are serious contenders for the title.
