Colombian President Gustavo Petro has released a list of locations he claims were targeted in overnight attacks in Venezuela, though the allegations have not been independently verified and there has been no immediate confirmation from Venezuelan authorities.

In a post on social media platform X, Petro outlined what he described as a series of bombardments and disruptions affecting military, government and infrastructure sites across Venezuela.

According to Petro’s claims, La Carlota airbase in Caracas was disabled and bombed, along with Cuartel de la Montaña in the Catia area of the capital.

He also said the Federal Legislative Palace in Caracas was struck.

Petro further alleged that Fuerte Tiuna, Venezuela’s main military complex, was bombed, and that an airport in El Hatillo came under attack.

He claimed that F-16 Base No 3 in Barquisimeto was bombed, while a private airport in Charallave, near Caracas, was also attacked and rendered inoperable.

In addition, Petro said a defence plan was activated at Miraflores, the presidential palace in Caracas, following the reported incidents.

The Colombian president also claimed that large areas of Caracas were left without electricity, including Santa Mónica, Fuerte Tiuna, Los Teques, the 23 de Enero neighbourhood and southern parts of the capital.

He said attacks were reported in central Caracas as well.

Among the other locations listed was a military helicopter base in Higuerote, which Petro said was disabled and bombed.

There was no immediate response or confirmation from the Venezuelan government or military regarding the reported attacks.

Independent verification of the claims was not available at the time of reporting, and the situation remains unclear as regional and international media seek further information.
