Shahajan, a former army member and bodyguard of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, passed away on Friday morning at Goga Union in Sharsha upazila of Jashore. (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un). His death has cast a pall of gloom over the area.

The funeral prayer of the deceased was held after Jumma prayers at the courtyard of his residence. BNP-nominated parliamentary candidate for Jashore-85/1 constituency, Alhaj Nuruzzaman Liton, attended the janaza. He prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family.

Also present at the funeral were Sharsha upazila BNP Senior Joint General Secretary Advocate Mostafa Kamal Mintu, Goga Union BNP General Secretary Abdul Hamid, Senior Vice-President Sarwar Hossain, Labour Affairs Secretary Shahid Ali, Sharsha upazila Jubo Dal Convener Mostafiz Joha Selim, and Joint Convener Shahidul Islam Shahid.

Others in attendance included Benapole Poura Jubo Dal Convener Mofizur Rahman Babu, Joint Convener Mir Alam, Benapole Poura Swechchhasebak Dal Member Secretary Omar Faruk, Benapole Poura Chhatra Dal Convener Ariful Islam Arif, along with leaders and activists of BNP and its associate organisations at various levels.

Leaders present recalled that Shahajan served the country and the nation with dedication and integrity throughout his career, stating that the locality has lost an honest and patriotic individual with his passing.
