As the 13th national parliamentary election approaches, BNP-nominated candidate Nuruzzaman Liton is increasingly becoming a central figure in political discussions in the Jessore-1 constituency.
Through extensive grassroots outreach, active engagement with party leaders and activists, and close interaction with general voters, public confidence in Liton has been steadily growing. On-the-ground conversations across various wards, neighborhoods, and marketplaces reveal that many voters view him as a symbol of change in a constituency long perceived as neglected.
Locals describe Liton not merely as a candidate, but as a familiar face—a tested organiser and a leader who has stood by people in difficult times. Voters say that throughout his long political career, he has remained close to the community, sharing both their joys and hardships. Despite facing repression and being implicated in 25 cases, he is seen as someone who never compromised.
Rabbiul Islam, a local voter, said, “We have seen many MPs, but after the election they disappear. Nuruzzaman Liton is different. He is always present in the area and listens to people. This is the kind of person we want to send to parliament.”
Grassroots BNP leaders and activists also note that under Liton’s leadership, the party’s organisational structure in Jessore-1 has become stronger. Coordination at ward and unit levels has improved, and enthusiasm among workers has returned. His growing acceptance among young and first-time voters has been particularly noticeable.
Political analysts point out that electoral equations in this constituency have traditionally been complex. However, in the upcoming election, a candidate’s personal credibility, sustained field presence, and long-standing political continuity are expected to play decisive roles. From that perspective, many believe Liton is currently ahead of the curve.
Expressing optimism, Nuruzzaman Liton said, “I do politics not for power, but to establish people’s rights. If the people of Jessore-1 give me the opportunity, I will raise their voice in the national parliament. Development will come to the area, but it must be inclusive and humane.”
He added that the people of Jessore-1 would play a crucial role in realising the BNP’s vision of a democratic Bangladesh under the leadership of Tarique Rahman.
Overall, as the electoral race in Jessore-1 heats up, Nuruzzaman Liton continues to emerge as a focal point of public trust and expectation—support that many believe will ultimately be reflected at the ballot box on election day.
