BNP expels all rebel candidates across the country

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expelled all rebel candidates across the country who defied party instructions by refusing to withdraw their nominations for the upcoming parliamentary election.

The decision was announced late Wednesday night through an official press release signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

The party said the expulsions were enforced on the final day of nomination withdrawal against leaders who continued to contest the election despite clear directives from the party high command.

According to the statement, the expelled individuals were found to be involved in activities that violate the party’s principles, ideology, and organisational discipline. As a result, they have been removed from BNP’s primary membership as well as all positions at every level of the party with immediate effect.

The list of expelled leaders, includes candidates from all eight administrative divisions, reflecting the scale of the party’s disciplinary action.

The BNP press release noted that some candidates attempted to withdraw their nominations after the official deadline but were unable to do so, and therefore remained in violation of party directives. The party leadership stressed that electoral discipline is essential to ensure organisational unity and credibility during the election.

Party insiders said the move is aimed at preventing internal vote-splitting and reinforcing central control ahead of formal campaigning.

The expulsion order has taken effect immediately, the statement said, and no exceptions will be made. BNP leaders warned that any further breach of party discipline during the election period will invite similar action.
