3 held after busting fake currency factory in Gazipur

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-1) arrested three individuals after busting a fake currency factory in Tongi police station area of Gazipur district on Monday. The identities of the deceased are yet to be known.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB officials conducted a drive on a rented house in Bonomala area of Tongi, where an illegal fake currency factory had reportedly been operating for a long time.

During the operation, law enforcers recovered counterfeit banknotes worth more than Tk 5 lakh in various denominations. They also seized equipment used in producing fake notes, including specialised printing paper, printers, scanners, ink and a laptop.

Gazipur Porabari RAB-1 Camp company commander Lt Commander Md Nafiz-bin-Jamal confirmed the incident and said that further investigation is underway to identify others involved in the syndicate.
