Chief of Army Staff General Wakar-Uz-Zaman attended the closing and prize distribution ceremony of the four-day Fifth Crown Cement Language Day Golf Cup Tournament-2026 at Army Golf Club in the Dhaka Cantonment on Sunday.
The army chief distributed prizes among the winners of the tournament, read a release of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate this afternoon.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, the army chief expressed his hope that organising such a competition would play an important role in the development of the country’s golf field.
A total of 815 golfers took part in the event, the ISPR mentioned.
Maj (retd) Sultan Mehedi Rahim achieved the honour of becoming the champion in the tournament while Brig Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam won the Veteran category, Brig Gen (retd) KM Salzar Hossain won the senior category, Kusum Farid won the Ladies category and Afit Iftekhar Ifrit won the junior category.
Among others, senior military officers of the Bangladesh Army, chief executive officer of the Army Golf Club, chairman of the tournament committee, members of the Executive Committee, and other dignitaries, along with players and media representatives, were present at the closing ceremony.
Earlier, Army Golf Club President Lt Gen Khan Firoz Ahmed inaugurated the tournament on 4 February, the ISPR added.
