France on Saturday congratulated the people of Bangladesh on the orderly and transparent conduct of the 12 February parliamentary elections, welcoming the European Union Observation Mission’s positive conclusions and expressing readiness to work with the new government.
In a message issued by the Embassy of France in Dhaka, Paris lauded the “Successful and credible elections which took place orderly and transparently on 12 February”.
The French Embassy also congratulated all the elected candidates as well as the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its leader ‘Tarique Rahman’ for their victory.
France welcomed the positive assessment made by the European Union Election Observation Mission and expressed appreciation for its efforts.
“We welcome the European Union Observation Mission’s positive conclusions and thank all its volunteers for their dedication,” the message said.
The embassy reaffirmed France’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Bangladesh under the newly-elected leadership.
“We look forward to working actively with the new government to develop the longstanding partnership between France and Bangladesh,” it added.
