Chief adviser hails Tarique Rahman on BNP’s historic victory

Professor Muhammad Yunus, chief adviser of the interim government, sent his warm congratulations to Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman following the party’s landslide victory in the 13th parliamentary elections.

In his message, Professor Yunus praised Tarique Rahman for leading BNP to secure a decisive majority and described the people’s clear mandate as a milestone for constitutional continuity, democratic stability, and institutional resilience.

He expressed confidence that under Tarique Rahman’s leadership, guided by democratic values and public welfare principles, Bangladesh would move towards a stable, inclusive, and development-oriented path. Professor Yunus recalled the ideals of Tarique Rahman’s father, President Ziaur Rahman, and his mother, former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, noting that their vision and steadfast leadership would continue to inspire the country’s future.

The chief adviser highlighted Bangladesh’s strategic position in the global arena, stressing the importance of coordinated expertise and judicious governance in economic transformation, technological advancement, climate resilience, human resource development, and regional and international diplomacy. He expressed hope that national unity would strengthen and democratic principles, rule of law, and accountability would be reinforced under Tarique Rahman’s guidance.

Professor Yunus also thanked Tarique Rahman for his constructive role and support during the interim government’s tenure, noting that his positive stance had helped maintain a democratic environment during a sensitive period of transition.

He concluded his message by wishing success for all initiatives aimed at public welfare, justice, and national prosperity, and prayed for wisdom, patience, and strength in service to the country.
