PM Tarique to work on Saturdays to speed up administration

Newly elected Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will now attend office on Saturdays as well in a move aimed at accelerating administrative activities.

The decision was taken to bring greater dynamism to governance and ensure faster implementation of key policies, according to officials. Soon after assuming office, the prime minister also decided that lawmakers would not receive duty-free cars or plots, a move that has drawn widespread praise.

He further instructed ministers to avoid unnecessary expenditure and maintain austerity in official spending.

Meanwhile, for the second consecutive day, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman attended office at the Secretariat on Thursday.
