Artificial crises in food, agri sector to be dealt properly: Salauddin Tuku

State Minister for Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku on Friday said that through regular monitoring and supervision, artificial crisis created by syndicates in the food and agriculture sectors will be addressed properly.

“The government has already established a market monitoring cell to keep the prices of essential goods affordable for the general public during the Ramadan,” he said.

Salahuddin Tuku made these remarks while talking to the journalists after a meeting with district administration officials in Tangail.

He stated that there is sufficient stock of all essential goods for Ramadan and there is no shortage anywhere. The government is taking measures to ensure that people can purchase goods at reasonable prices. Milk, eggs and meat will be sold at subsidised rates to reduce pressure on the low and middle-income families. From tomorrow, a programme to sell milk, eggs and meat at affordable prices in Tangail during Ramadan will be inaugurated.

He also mentioned that the government is giving top priority to fulfilling all promises to the people of Tangail including combating drugs, terrorism and juvenile gangs.

Earlier, the State Minister joined a discussion with district level officials. Chaired by Deputy Commissioner Tangail, Sharifa Haque, it was attended by Police Super Mohammad Shamsul Alam Sarkar, Additional District Commissioner (Revenue) Sanjay Kumar Mahanta and heads of various departments of the district.
