Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said the government will take measures over cases allegedly filed to harass innocent people following the mass uprising on 5 August 2024.

He made the remarks while speaking to reporters at the Secretariat in the capital on Tuesday.

The minister said certain vested quarters had implicated innocent individuals in various cases after the uprising.

“Some of these cases have come to our notice. We will scrutinise them and take appropriate action,” he said.

Emphasising the need to uphold the rule of law, Salahuddin said legal steps would be taken if anyone was harassed through what he described as ‘mamlabazi’ (the malicious filing of cases).
