Mustafizzohha Selim, convener of Jubo Dal in Sharsha upazila, has expressed his intention to contest the upcoming mayoral election of Benapole Municipality.

Selim, a Master’s degree holder and a seasoned political activist, said he has decided to run for the post to serve the people and work for the development of the neglected municipality.

Following his announcement, a sense of renewed spectation  has reportedly emerged among his supporters and local residents.

Benapole municipal Jubo Dal convener Mostafizur Rahman Babu said Selim is one of the most highly educated and qualified individuals in the area. “He has always stood by people in times of need. There are no allegations against him. Compared to others aspiring to be mayor, Selim is more educated and competent. He has spent his own money to support common people,” Babu said.

He added that if elected mayor, Selim would be able to bring significant development to the municipality. “He has pledged to transform Benapole into an internationally standard port town and municipality. He also aims to create better opportunities for sports and recreational activities for the younger generation,” he said.

Speaking about his vision, Selim said Benapole Municipality has fallen behind in terms of development. “I want to remove this long-standing neglect and work as a true servant of the people,” he said, expressing confidence that with proper planning, the municipality can be developed into a modern and model civic body.

Noting that Benapole is located along the Indian border, Selim said drugs are easily accessible in the area. “I want to eliminate terrorism and drug abuse from this town and build a peaceful and normal social environment,” he said.

He further said he wishes to remain beside the residents of Benapole at all times with a commitment to uphold their rights and serve them sincerely.

Selim’s announcement to join the electoral race has sparked fresh hope  among his followers and local residents, party leaders said.
