Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said there will be no new probe commission into the Pilkhana massacre, stating that a competent commission had already been formed by the interim government.
”The interim government formed the investigation commission with appropriate and qualified individuals.”
He made the remarks while speaking to reporters after paying tribute at the Banani Military Cemetery on the occasion of ‘National Martyred Army Day.’
”Today we observed the Martyred Army Day with state honours. The president and the prime minister were present, alongside family members of the martyrs. Those who laid down their lives to safeguard the country’s independence and sovereignty will remain eternally honoured.”
Salahuddin Ahmed further said that the cases currently under trial will be concluded through due judicial process, and the recommendations made by the commission will be implemented in phases.
Addressing the families of the victims, he assured them that justice would be guaranteed to prevent any recurrence of such an incident.
”There was an attempt to weaken the armed forces through this massacre. Only those who do not believe in the country’s independence and sovereignty could be behind such an act.”
