Bangladesh U17 trail by 106 after Day 2

Sri Lanka strengthened their grip on the second three-day U17 match on Day 2 at the Bashundhara Sports City Cricket Ground, leaving Bangladesh U17 under pressure as the young Tigers closed the day on 107/6 and now trail by 106 runs.

Sri Lanka delivered a brilliant batting performance, finishing their first innings on 335/7 declared after 99.4 overs. Rehan Peiris led the charge with a superb 182 off 286 balls, while Jason Fernando added a steady 65 off 125. Sahidul Islam Sahid was the standout performer for Bangladesh, claiming five wickets.

Bangladesh’s second innings faltered early, losing wickets in quick succession before settling slightly late in the day. Lawrence Roy is currently the top scorer with 26 off 57 balls, while the innings will resume on the final morning with Junayed Hossain unbeaten on 25 off 68 and Sourav Karmakar not out on 19 off 63. Sri Lanka’s Himaru Deshan dominated with the ball, taking five wickets and keeping Bangladesh under constant pressure.

With Sri Lanka firmly in control, Bangladesh face a challenging task on the final day as they look to avoid a collapse and fight their way back into the contest.
