Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has warmly congratulated the Election Commission on announcing the schedule for the 13th national election and the referendum on the July Charter implementation order, calling it a significant milestone in Bangladesh’s democratic journey.

“With this schedule, Bangladesh’s democratic journey has crossed an important milestone. Following the historic people’s uprising, the country is moving forward on a new path—this election and referendum will strengthen that path, prioritise the voice of the people, and further consolidate the foundation of a new Bangladesh,” he said.

He expressed confidence that the Election Commission would perform its constitutional duties independently, impartially, and with the highest professionalism, adding that the interim government would provide all necessary support to ensure the election and referendum are conducted in a festive, participatory, and fully fair manner.

Addressing political parties, candidates, media, civil society, and citizens, the Chief Adviser urged, “Accept this election and referendum as an initiative for national unity. Respect for differing opinions, a peaceful environment, and democratic conduct will make our coming days more stable.”

He further said, “Bangladesh now stands at the threshold of a new future. Through the active participation and responsible conduct of all, I firmly believe we will succeed in building a modern, just, and prosperous state.”
