Ex-MP and Freedom Fighter Akhtaruzzaman joins Jamaat

Former Member of Parliament and valiant freedom fighter Major (Retd) Akhtaruzzaman has formally joined Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.

The joining ceremony took place on Saturday (13 December) at 9:00am at the party’s central office in Dhaka.Akhtaruzzaman filled out the primary associate membership form of Jamaat in presence of party’s Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman.

During the meeting, Akhtaruzzaman expressed his deep confidence and satisfaction in Jamaat-e-Islami’s principles and ideology, its patriotism, and its unwavering stance on safeguarding the country’s independence and sovereignty.

Jamaat Ameer warmly embraced him and wished him a long and blessed life.

Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar and Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim were present at the joining event.

Akhtaruzzaman is a freedom fighter of Bangladesh’s Liberation War, a veteran politician, and a leading figure in various democratic movements. After independence, he remained actively involved in politics and social welfare activities. A retired major of the Bangladesh Army, he was elected twice as a Member of Parliament from the Kishoreganj-2 constituency as a candidate of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
