Bus catches fire in Savar, initial probe suggests sabotage

A parked bus caught fire at Savar, Dhaka on Saturday night, and an initial probe suggests the incident was a sabotage attempt.

No casualty was reported in the incident.

According to eyewitnesses and the Fire Service, an empty parked bus suddenly got engulfed in a ball of fire on the Aricha-bound lane at Genda bus stand in Savar around 10pm.

The Fire Service heard of the incident around 10:02pm, and a unit brought the situation under control within 15 minutes, said Fire Service and Civil Defence Warehouse Inspector Meherul Islam.

The exact cause of the fire could not be immediately known, but preliminary evidence review suggests miscreants were behind it.
