Security arrangements at Rahman’s Gulshan residence are nearly complete, with CCTV cameras installed along the road and security sheds placed in front of the building, according to personnel on site.

According to them, Rahman is expected to move into house number 196 on Gulshan Avenue, a property allocated to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia following the assassination of former president Ziaur Rahman.

Ownership documents for the house were formally handed over to Khaleda Zia a few months ago. She currently resides at a nearby rented home, Firoza.

In addition to the residence, separate chambers have been prepared for the Acting Chairman at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan, alongside her own chamber.

Another office has been set up for him at the party’s central headquarters in Nayapaltan.

BNP has also rented a four-storey building at house 10/C on Road 90 in Gulshan, which will function as a key coordination centre for activities related to the 13th national parliamentary election. The building includes a briefing room, offices for various party departments and a research cell, and is under heightened security.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said leaders and activists across the country are eagerly awaiting Rahman’s return.

He noted that party members will line major roads in an orderly manner to welcome him, while a large gathering is expected at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on the day of arrival.

Earlier this week, BNP and its affiliated organisations held a joint meeting at the Chairperson’s Gulshan office to finalise plans for the homecoming. The meeting was chaired by Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

As part of the return programme, BNP has announced a nationwide reel-making competition titled ‘Amar Vabnay Bangladesh (Bangladesh in My Thoughts).

The initiative, open to participants at home and abroad, invites one-minute creative videos reflecting ideas and hopes for the country’s future. The competition will run until December 25.

Mahdi Amin said the aim of the initiative is to directly engage citizens in the party’s vision for rebuilding the state and to bring grassroots perspectives to the top leadership.

He added that the top 10 participants will have the opportunity to interact directly with Tarique Rahman at a special event.

BNP leaders said they believe Rahman’s return marks a significant moment for the party and its supporters, expressing hope that it will strengthen efforts to restore democracy in line with public expectations.
