The government has beefed up security across the capital by deploying additional number of army personnel, BGB members and policemen at crucial points.
Enhanced security was spotted in Dhanmondi, Karwan Bazar, Farmgate, Hotel InterContinental intersection, and Airport area on Friday.
Overnight unruly crowd attacked, vandalised and torched different key establishments, including media offices, following the death of July Uprising participant Sharif Osman Hadi in Singapore.
Since morning protests have been staged in different parts of the capital and across the country, demanding the arrest of the killers.
Dhanmondi Police Station Sub-Inspector Khalilur Rahman told reporters policemen were deployed near the Chhayanaut building in Dhanmondi following arson attack on the cultural facility.
Separately, a BGB statement said additional personnel have been deployed near the Hotel InterContinental, Kawran Bazar and Airport area ahead of the expected arrival of Hadi’s body on a Biman Bangladesh flight.
